But fourth-up, rising to the 1400m bought the best out of the Star Turn gelding, who weaved a passage through the field in the straight, found the hole and went bang, putting 0.86L on the field to break through in style.
It was a fantastic performance coming from just worse than midfield to storm home behind a wonderful Serg Lisnyy ride.
