Tracey Bartley racing has enjoyed a successful 2020-21 racing season which has been highlighted by IN GOOD TIME winning the 2020 Listed Ascot Stakes at Eagle Farm. The Time Thief mare is no stranger to racing at this level already tasting victory in the 2018 Listed Denise Joy Hcp during the coveted Scone Cup Carnival and we always knew she could upstage her rivals again.
IN GOOD TIME was friendless in the market and the experts wouldn’t consider her after finishing 4L behind Coruscate at Randwick in heavy conditions. “Rachel King commented “there’s nothing wrong with the way she’s going, she just can’t go in the wet”. In a bold training move Tracey sent the mare north of the border and when she turned up at Eagle Farm, she was rock hard fit and sent out a $61 outsider. Dale Smith sat off the speed and when they turn up the heat IN GOOD TIME responded beautifully exploding on the scene to win by over a length. They stopped the clock in a slick 1:08.91 and being back on top of the ground allow her to give the locals a look at our flying machine from Wyong.
Tracey has always had a very high opinion of the Time Thief mare. She won her first 6 races going from a Dubbo Maiden to saluted at stakes level. After suffering a tendon injury, it was always going to be a long road back but to the stables credit they persevered, and the reward was there during the highly competitive Brisbane Carnival.
Tracey commented “I’m over the moon. NSW is pretty wet at the moment and we were going to go up there first-up, but we decided not to. I think to run her on a heavy track at Randwick last start was actually a good grounding for that race today.”
