Tracey Bartley has waited a long, long time to train another topliner like Sniper’s Bullet – and he might have finally unearthed one.
Bartley was cheering a long way out from home when Barossa Rosa hit the front in the inaugural running of The Four Pillars at Rosehill.
But it was stablemate Kiss Sum that emerged from the shadows on the fence and pinched the $700,000 feature from everyone.
An emotional Bartley, who enjoyed group 1 success with Sniper’s Bullet a decade ago, knows what it means to finally have another goodie in his stable.
“You speak to the old trainers who have trained 40 or 50 years and they’ve never had a group 1 winner. I was very fortunate to get one in the first ten years of training,” Bartley said.
“I can tell you Kiss Sum is a serious horse. He showed that today. He just hasn’t had any luck.”
